Lacey Summer Cardigan

 

 Good evening folks, you know I have been knitting for most of my life.  My mom taught me and I started with knitting for my dolls.  Since then I have had spates of doing loads and doing none at all.  Probably like most folk but I have never thought about putting any of my makes on my blog.

 

I suppose I take my knitting for granted a little.

 

So, my first knitting post is a cardigan I recently finished for myself.  I will say now that I only knit for me, hubby and me mom then if I am in a 'off knitting spate' I don't feel so guilty if they have to wait a couple of years - hee hee.

 

The pattern for this is from Stylecraft 8417.  I have knitted it in DK sirdar cotton but I am not sure which yarn. 

 

Please accept my apologies for the photograph, but it is my first one of showcasing a knitting project and it is something I clearly need to work on.  This was taken in my craft room after an afternoon of crafting hence all the bits on the floor.

 

I got back into knitting about 5 years ago knitting scarves, got bored with them and moved onto jumpers and cardigans for us.   I will admit my poor hubby had to wait 18 months for one jumper but then I did have a shoulder op mid knit.  He got it eventually.  Ofcourse now I knit nearly every evening.  At present I am doing a cardigan for my mom in navy blue sirdar wash n wear yarn  - lovely yarn to work with.  Mind you it has been going for some years now.  I will post that one when it is finished.  Back and fronts done, three quarters of 1st sleeve.

First Scan & Cut Project

 

Hi everyone, how are you all today?  Gosh it is 'chucking' it down here, thunder and lightening.  Before that we had some sun - only in England right?

 

Well have I been playing today.  I have been watching this Brother Scan & Cut since launch, and trying my best to talk myself out of wanting one and failing big time.

 

Well I finally went and did it, I bought one, it arrived and I have played.  So far it is everything they said it was.  I figure I have saved myself £90 so far because I was looking to buy 3 spellbinders grande dies and I don't have to now because the shapes are already on the machine.

 

I have also found SVG files and Mel Heaton is right, taking them into the Canvas programme to convert them and putting them onto a USB is sooooooooooo easy.  Plus there are some fantastic designs around.  The rose one I have used was free form Birds Cards.

1. I downloaded my SVG cutting file, took it into Brother Canvas programme and converted it to the FCM file and put it on my USB which I then used to cut out my rose background.
2. I then cut a frame on my BSC using blue card, attached my rose background to the rear and then placed that onto my card.
3. My topped is a tonic die
4. My flower is tattered lace and the red embellishment I made in my melt pot.

I am still in the early learning stages for my BSC but so far, I don't regret buying it and I know I will use it more than I used my cricut. 

 

I have also done some direct  cutting on some digi stamps - cutting them out ready to colour.  I just need to figure out how to put a seam on it so that will be my next lesson.

 

Hope you like my first project using my BSC- which I really have to name, but one will come to me eventually.

Lazy Dayz - Crafting from the Heart - Challenge 31

Good morning crafters. Not sure what the weather is doing this morning as I scheduled this post however I can say I had a brilliant time at the Great British Craft Fayre @ Stoneleigh on Saturday.

Brilliant day with my mate Wendy, coffee, lunch, gossip and mega retail craft therapy.  Roll on tomorrow, my day off, when I can play with my goodies.

 My sample was from DeeDee Designs and came with digi stamps, coloured toppers and backing papers.

 

These kind of packs are very versatile.  I love using my Serif CrafArtist and so this was a brilliant pack for that.  My sample has been designed soley in Serif CraftArtist.  I took the required elements into my programme, made my own backing papers, ribbons and materials using the elements from Lazy Dayz.  The buttons I added from a digikit.  One of the mats was a shape coloured from the striped backing paper and then I added an element from the styles section.

1. I printed my image out onto Copic X-PressIt card in draft quality.  I left it overnight and then coloured it in with the above listed copic markers.  This card is amazing and no bleeding.
2. I then began with a C5 white base card, followed by a mat of pink card followed by a smaller mat of pearlescent card which I ran through the embossing folder.
3. I die cut the heart out of pearlescent card and inked around the edges with distress ink - spun sugar and placed that onto my card with pinflair so it stood proud.  You could also use sticky buds.
4. I cut my image our leaving a small border around the edge, shaped it and placed that onto my card.
5. Some pink ribbon around the bottom and a bow made using that super new bow maker from tattered lace - soooooooooooo easy.
6. Finally finished off with a sentiment.

Happy Birthday in Lavish Poppies

Hi crafters and followers, hope you are all well today.

My post for today is using tonic dies and my flowerr is the beautiful tattered lace lavish blooms poppy die.

My Shopping List

1.  I have used an 8x8 cream base card followed by a piece of black card and then a piece of cream pearlescent card which I have embossed.
2. I then die cut my main feature using the tonic happy birthday sentiment die set and attached that to my card followed by my flower which I made using the papers from a tattered lace magazine - they are just divine papers and superby quality.
3. I finished my card off with some black gems and a flower made using my melt pot.

In all honesty this card was such an easy card to make, those tonic birthday sentiments and brilliant for a main feature and have a lovely space in the middle for a flower, ideal for me as I love my flowers.

I have also purchased the christmas ones which you will be seeing into the future.

Crafting at the Weekend Challenge 4

Good morning folks, hope you are all well and enjoying this gorgeous weather.  Mind you I have to admit to not liking this heat as much as I used too.  Probably got something to do with my own central heating system that works extremely well!

1. I printed my digi out onto super smooth card the day before in draft quality and coloured her in using copic markers listed above.
2. I then matted some red spotted patterned paper out of my crafty stash onto an 8x8 plain white card followed by a piece of centura pearl card which I embossed first placed my white ribbon and red ribbon around and then attached to my card.
3. I cut my image out leaving a small border around her and shaped her a little to give her some dimension.
4. I used a piece of red card die cut from a tonic die that I already had in my bit box and placed that onto my card with some silicone glue followed by positioning Lucy Loo again with silicone glue.
5.  I die cut my flowers out, shaped them and stuck them together with hot glue and then die cut my leaves out.  I then arranged the flower and leaves onto my card  and fixed themw ith silicone.  I then topped my flower off with some card candi in the centre.
6. I finished off with my sentiment which is a tonic die with a gem in the flower.

I have to say Lucy Loo was such a sweet image to colour in and quite easy to cut out.

Filigree Corner - Crafting From The Heart Challenge 27

 

Good morning all, hope you are all well and had a fantastic weekend.  The weather was certainly lovely here in the West Midlands so I do hope it was dry wherever you are.

 

Well, it is that time again, a super new challenge has started today over at Crafting from the Heart.

1. I printed my digi stamp out on super smooth card in draft quality the day before, heat set it and left it overnight.
2. I then coloured it in using the copics listed above and cut it out.
3. I began with a cream card base, 8x8 in size.
4. Matted a piece of red card onto my cream base.
5. I then embossed a piece of cream pearlised card using the tattered lace 8x8 filigree embossing folder, attached that to my card base.
6. I die cut a piece of red card using the tonic die set fae trellis and using the verses that came with the die I cut a plain piece of cream pearlescent card and stamped my image on using a creative expressions stamp from one of their verses range.
7. I attached that to my card together with the filigree digi stamp.
8. I finished my card off with a ribbon, an embellisment I had made using my melt pot and finally some red card candi.
